Annual Gathering Rescheduled!

And Lettered Streets Updates

Winter Gathering and Annual Meeting March 12

Hello, friends and neighbors! We're looking forward to seeing you at our rescheduled, snow-free, pot luck and winter gathering!

Tuesday, March 12
6:00 PM - Dinner and conversation
6:30 PM - Meeting
7:00 PM Program
First Congregational Church 2401 Cornwall Ave.

Please bring a dish to share if you can, or just yourself, family and neighbors. We look forward to breaking bread with you.

Can We Talk? Gossage is a Problem

The gazebo at Gossage Plaza (Cornwall at Alabama and F Streets) is over twenty years old and has become a safety problem. Bellingham Park Operations Manager Steve Janiszewski says that the city must take it down.

It's time for us to come together as a neighborhood and decide what we want for our little corner. Park benches? A food garden? Trees? Please come to our March 12 annual meeting so that we can share ideas and move forward with a plan that reflects our choices.

Speaking of Structure - By Laws Proposal

The LSNA Board has worked hard to revise and update our by-laws, which have not changed since they were first approved in 2007. The proposal includes:
  • Updating our mission and purpose to reflect a welcoming nature of inclusivity
  • Expanding the description of who constitutes a LSNA member
  • Adding at-large Board positions and increasing the overall size of the Board
  • Updating language to be gender-neutral and inclusive
We'll present and hope to adopt the proposed changes at our March 12 Annual Meeting. If you would like a copy of the proposed changes in advance, email lettered.streets@gmail.com. They will be posted on our website as well.

New Year - New Leadership

Your ideas needed! Board positions are open for the Lettered Streets Neighborhood Association. We'll hold an election for the following positions:
  • Chair
  • Area 2 Representative (Girard to Cornwall / F Street to Broadway – see map)
  • Mayor’s Neighborhood Advisory Commission Representative
  • Mayor's Neighborhood Advisory Commission Alternate
As well as a couple of at-large positions, if approved. Nominations are welcome now, or at the March 12 Annual Meeting. Don't be shy! This is an easy and excellent way to get your foot in the door and learn about board leadership - as well as making a difference for your neighborhood and its future!

Thanks for taking a peek at our updates! We look forward to seeing you at our meeting or around the neighborhood.

Wishing you warmth,

Shemaia Kountouros
