I have a new home (somewhere down there)! More on that sometime soon. In moving, I took a free couch off the street and then a day later I put it back out on the street. And there's no metaphor there. The couch just had fleas.

Sometimes the absence of something is more important than the presence of it. That's what someone said at an artist talk I went to at this rad art space in Oakland called Dream Farm Commons. Those words resonated with me because I just moved into my new place (after seven years in a co-living space) and as I stared at an empty room I immediately saw the absence of stuff as a shortcoming to the homeliness of my new space. I immediately thought about filling it with lots of stuff. Then I paused and thought what if I just let it be the way it is right now and add what I want as I want. What if I didn't try to solve this all right away in one fell swoop?

So I went to Target and bought toilet paper, and a set of silverware, and a trash can. I'm excited to be in my new space and see what unfolds inside of it. I invite you to look at where you feel the absence of something and what it means to you. And to look at where the presence of something is more important than the absence of it.
One thing we strongly feel the absence (and the presence) of is money. As I continue to be in inquiry around art and money, I did what I know to do. I made a thing hastily and put it out into the world (bae is a term the kids use for girlfriend/boyfriend). It was mostly done in jest but it's also with the intention of getting people thinking about the relationship between art and money. It's been fascinating to see people's reactions to it. It became (I think) my most liked/commented/shared Instagram post of all time. I only put up one but am soon going to put up many more. Message me if you'd like to help :)

Everyone is asking me about this exciting new project that I say I'm doing now because I told people I was doing it hah. And now I have to do it because I've got a small army of beautiful, creative, accountability buddies who need to know :D It's not ready...yet. Stay tuned.

Go check out Dream Farm Commons and support small spaces doing awesome things. Support dreams, support humans, support eye contact, support loudness, support quiet, support breathe, support yourself and those around you.

On my way to Dream Farm Commons I ran unexpectedly into Lea Redmond's studio. We had met many years ago and it was so cool to see her and hear what she is up to. Check out her studio!
PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE WHO YOU THINK WOULD DIG IT. THANKS! :)
