Kid Healthy's Padres en Acción program is piloting an innovative recess program that blends active play with mindful, yoga-based movements. This program, developed by OC Department of Education was made possible by Kaiser Permanente.
Mindful Moving Playground is parent-led and increases students' social and emotional well-being that help them be better prepared to return to the classroom.
PEA leaders received training on the framework of social-emotional learning, how to set up, and how to lead Mindful Moving activities on the playground. Each school received a Mindful Moving kit (pictured left).
Stations are designed to lead students through 3 core concepts: Breathe - quiet their minds & focus attention Move - hold a yoga pose while practicing mindful breathing Be - encourages students to set a positive intention & behavior

Parents for Healthy Kids
Action for Healthy Kids offers 3 grant programs that fund physical activity, nutrition and parent-led projects. Schools can apply for the Parents for Healthy Kids grant to support parent-led physical activity or nutrition initiatives (like Padres en Acción). Applications are due April 5th.
