To Be Announced by Léxico Project
In 7 weeks To Be Announced by Léxico Project premieres on the international stage as the opening show at at Sismògraf Festival in Catalonia.
We are almost there. We are in the final creation phase.
This ambitious project has taken us into challenging territory.
In a world dominated by radical individuality we have chosen collaboration. In the moment when that world is contracting, shutting the “other” out, we are expanding, opening our preceptors and reaching across languages, cultures, translations, histories and experiences. Inspired by Argentine writer Julio Cortázar’s quote:
Andábamos sin buscarnos pero sabiendo que andábamos para encontrarnos.
(We went without looking but we knew we were going to meet.)
Using the not-always-common language of contemporary dance and without a communal working language, we are understanding (in) the unknown.
We began the creative process by writing an accumulation poem. Typically one folds a piece of paper like an accordion and each person writes one line of poetry, able only to see the previous line. In our version we each wrote in our own language and could only see the previous line as translated by google.

Yours will be on beautiful card stock and we promise it won't have fold marks and words crossed out.
Inspired by this - the evidence of our work and the mystery and inherent beauty of other languages - we are creating handwritten, multi-lingual poem postcards for our donors. They include our different handwriting. Each one is unique. They can be framed. Small works of art that represent and support a bigger work of art.
We are in the final creation phase of To Be Announced by Léxico Project. In a few weeks the designers will add their magic touch, making it ready for the premiere! We are grateful for support from Canada Council for the Arts, Generalitat de Catalunia and municipality of Olot through Aide de Producion at Sismògraf Festival.
To make it all happen we need to raise the last 8%, a mere $3,000.
