Good Morning Dragon Band Families!

WOW we must pass along a HUGE thank you to each and every person who helped, load, unload, drive, and navigate these past 2 weekends. Your trucks, trailers, backs, arms and legs were very much appreciated. The weather constantly had us on our toes, but with your help we can now call the Spring mulch fundraiser complete! Thank you!

We have 3 more opportunities to volunteer in the coming weeks. Please read below about all of our fundraising activities and help out where you can. There is a job for everyone and we'd love to have your help wherever you can give it.

Mattress Sale Fundraiser - SPECIAL MEETING

TOMORROW night starting at 7:30 PM in the Band Hall we will hold our regularly scheduled Band Booster Meeting. In addition, we will have a representative from Custom Fundraising Solutions (CFS) on hand to help explain the mattress sale fundraiser, hand out marketing material, go over new things about this year's sale and more.

Most importantly, CFS will add $5 for every person we have in attendance (up to $500) to their final contribution to the band program. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. This could be the easiest $500 we raise all year.

The Mattress Sale is scheduled to run from 10 AM through 5 PM on Saturday April 6th. Please help us out by sharing this information with anyone you know in the are who might need a new mattress, pillows, or bed sheets.

We also need a few volunteers to help with the mattress sale throughout the day. Please sign up here if you can help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4dabaf28a13-20192

Dell Diamond - Sign Ups Coming Soon!

We are finalizing our plans to work as a group at the Dell Diamond throughout the Spring. This opportunity has the potential to bring in a large amount of money for our organization but it is 100% dependent on volunteer support

What is it?
RS3 - the company who manages concession sales at the Dell Diamond, HEB Center, Circuit of Americas and more works with local non-profits. In return for working at their concession stands, they pay a minimum of $50 per volunteer directly to our organization. When we fully staff a concessions stand we also receive a percentage of sales revenue! In year's past we've made over $1,000 on a single evening's shift.

Why are we doing this?
There are very few activities that we participate in that have the potential to raise as much money without selling products or asking for financial support directly from our Band Families. This is a great opportunity to raise a lot of money for the band program, without asking you for anything other than your time. Your work translates directly into money for the Dragon Band! Plus, just like selling concessions at the high school, it can be a lot of fun and a great way to meet other band families.

When is it?
We are working on finalizing the schedule now. We are making plans to work home games at the Dell Diamond. These games will be primarily on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We will not sign up to work every game, just the ones that have the potential to bring us the most financial support. Most games are night games.

Who can help?
We will need approximately 10 people for each game we work. These shifts will be split into 3 primary jobs.
  • Job #1 is cashier and server (6 people). These volunteers must complete TABC training (see below). Their main jobs include taking orders, handling payments and pouring/serving beer. You must be 18 or older and have your TABC license to serve.
  • Job #2 is a food prep/runner (3 people). These volunteers are responsible for preparing food, pouring soft drinks, and delivering food orders to customers. You must be 16 or older to work as a food runner.
  • Job #3 is a Team Lead (1 person). Team leads are responsible for assisting in any job that may need extra help. There will be 1 Team Lead assigned to every game night.

What can you do?
URGENT We need 5 volunteers to serve as team leads. We need to identify these volunteers as soon as possible! If you would like more information or are willing to serve as a team lead please contact Jim Machajewski today!

Get your TABC license! The majority of people who work at the Dell Diamond will need to have their TABC license to legally serve alcohol. This license is good for 2 years. You can take your certification at any time, but you must complete it before your first shift. Once you have completed it you can email your certificate to us so we can share those licenses with the Dell Diamond.

While we can't recommend one in particular, you can obtain your license online at any of the following providers:

You can also search for any online course to complete your TABC license. Food Handlers licenses are no longer required for volunteer positions at the Dell Diamond
