Auction Update!
From Auction HQ, we are happy to report a stellar time was had at the first of many Auction Sign-Up Parties this weekend. The Kindergarten Teachers' "Kindergartners Go Bowling!" party at Kingpins was a super fun time!
|
|
Sign-Up Parties were a special focus with the auction this year. The
committee wanted to increase the number and options to allow our
community more opportunities to engage and celebrate with one another.
A whopping 29 parties and experiences will be occurring over the next 6
months. What a great way to enjoy our time together and raise funds for
our school!
|
|
|
A handful of the experiences have available slots, so check them out at the Auction Website. Also, a full list of party dates/times/locations can be found at supportabernethy.org.
We are ecstatic to report that 32 Teacher/Staff Sponsorships were recorded by the night of the Gala. The sponsorships defrayed the cost of attending the Gala for our hardworking teachers and staff. Those in attendance will surely agree that the night was extra special because of their attendance and energy.
|
|
For the 4th and 5th grade all-class inclusive celebrations, 80 (and counting) sponsorships have been recorded!
Your support of these two celebrations will allow ALL students of the 4th and 5th grade classes to attend. What memories they will have!
|
|
|
Finally, we want to thank everyone for their time, energy and generosity put towards Abernethy's Annual Auction. Like you, we are moms and dads doing our part to help our school and community. It is never too little or too late to find your volunteer opportunity. It truly does take each and every one of us to make our community thrive, so Come On Down... and volunteer!
Cheers!

Abernethy Conversations About Race
|
|
Thanks to all who participated in our K-3 read-aloud!
Over 60 parents and students met in small groups led by Abernethy teachers Caryn Anderson, Erica Arthurs, Susan Brown, Julie Miller, David Scholten, Wendy Siri, Ruth Tessema, and guest teacher Sarah Hooper.
Here are just a few of the thoughts that came up in our large group discussion:
|
|
|
I learned... that we can still be friends if our skin color is different.
I wonder... how did racism start?
I hope... that we have more conversations about race at Abernethy.
Click here for a list of the books we read! And check out our bulletin board in the main hallway to see more.

Hosford Middle School PTSA Happy Hour!
Attention 5th grade Families: Mark your calendar for Thursday, April 11, from 6-8pm
The Hosford PTSA is hosting a (very) casual happy hour. Please stop by so you can:
- Meet other HMS parents!
- Learn more about supporting Hosford activities through the PTSA!
- Share YOUR ideas with us!
- Get your questions about HMS answered in a low-key environment!
- Enjoy a drink with your old AND new HMS friends!
- HAVE FUN!
There are ample opportunities to get involved--no over-commitment required! We also know that many of you are weighing middle school options for your kid(s), let us answer whatever questions about HMS you may have!
Indeed middle school is full of ups and downs… and it’s all the more meaningful and rewarding if we build the most active community we can together. The Hosford PTSA is eager for new faces. We would love to see you/meet you on Thursday the 11th.
This event is at a Ladd’s Addition home/ The address will be sent upon receipt of your email/RSVP.
Thank you and really hope to see many of you on April 11!
Lucretia Lyons, HMS PTSA Secretary
Larissa Treat, HMS PTSA President
PS: Is childcare an issue? Please reply with the ages of your kids, we can provide some childcare. We want to make this meeting as accessible as possible for all who wish to attend!
PSS: If you can't make the meeting please email anyway and we can share information at your convenience.
