Hello Members
It’s meeting time again, this coming Thursday, March 14, 7:30PM  at the usual place. Some of us have supper before at the Firkin. The address and a map is at http://www.kwrc.on.ca/kw_events/march-meeting/

This month Eric Vlasic will be attending to tell us about his experiences crewing at the WRC Monte Carlo rally, his time as a driving coach for a reality TV show, his rally and Rallycross successes and his racing before rally. It’ll be more of a Q&A session than presentation but I know there are a lot of stories to be told.

KWRC didn’t host any events since the last meeting, the organizers were recovering from the two day Rallycross in February. On that note I have finally got the series scores for the RallyCross updated and they are posted here. There is a separate tab in the spreadsheet which explains how I came up with a factor to determine championship points over the two days of running. Essentially I determined that Sunday was 7% faster than Saturday and applied that factor to Sundays times, much like Brandon had proposed. The championship points are not set in stone yet, I’m willing to listen to suggestions on how it could be improved.

MLRC’s Polar Bear and the results are on the KWRC site. Of the 23 cars running I count a total of 13 KWRC members. Congratulations to Jason Ronza for winning Novice and Marzetti / Laye for coming third expert.

This coming weekend, Saturday March 16 is the RSO AGM. If you were  a member of KWRC last year you are eligible to vote at the AGM; if you can’t be there you can assign your proxy to someone who will be attending. (I will be if you want to assign the proxy to me) Here is a google form, https://goo.gl/forms/22Th3uikbp6lCBQF2 or you can print and use this from from RSO. We need enough proxies to make a quorum, however I don’t know of any contentious issues coming up and I don’t know who is running for President. All the AGM documents are at https://www.rallysport.on.ca/rso/agm-2018/

Our first SNATR of the season is April 13 and Roger and I are working on that. Dennis & Roger have most of Blossom put together so we should be in good shape for May and our next Rallycross is June 9.

The business portion of the meeting will be short so we can get time to hear about Eric’s endeavours. The standard agenda is

Welcome
-Old Business
-Treasurers Report
-New Business
-- Upcoming events
-- RallyCross storage – more on penalties
--WRC Canada?
--
-Adjournment
Free discussion

Martin Loveridge
President, KWRC

KWRC MEETING MINUTES – February 14, 2019

The meeting was called to order at 7:45 pm
Attendance - As per sign in list

  1. Old Business
  2.  Bruce Leonard will not be running for President of RSO as he has taken on organizing Tall Pines this year. Martin will be carrying the proxies for the club for the RSO meeting. As this point it is unknown if Dave Maynard will continue as treasurer or if there are any other people interested in positions. If any members are interested, please put your names forward.
  3. This is our first meeting his the banquet. A big thank you to Paul Hartl who came out and gave us a great perspective on rally and life… don’t give up!
  4. Darin and Amy Mayes hosted our Frostbite navigational rally out of Milton and let’s just say that there were some challenges in the Expert class. Congratulations to everyone who came out to participate.
  5. Our two day Rally cross event was a great success. and even with the expenditures including porta potties, the food, which was excellent by the way we were able to come out ahead. The feedback from everyone was extremely positive. Thank you to everyone who came out to marshall and volunteer as well. Without everyone’s participation these events would not be possible.

2. Treasurer’s Report
                                    The club is solvent.

3. New Business

  1. The club does not have an event planned until the April SNATR.
  1. Discussions were had regarding the requirement to formalize hitting barrels and cones for the Rallycross events. The members discussed how participants currently hit the barrels. It was noted that in some cases, hitting barrels on the inside can give a competitor an advantage. The conclusion by members is that there are several scenarios and as such a formalized plan needs to be laid out to ensure each competitor is aware of the penalties involved. Also on this point, the time of the penalty was discussed and will be expanded upon at the next meeting.

  1. Eric Vlasic will be crewing in Monte Carlo at a WRC event. We can’t wait to hear his stories.

The meeting was adjourned by Frank at 9:07pm and seconded by Adam
