NEWSLETTER 11 March 2019

Spring is just about here and the CORNWALL AT WAR MUSEUM WILL RE-OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ON SATURDAY 30th MARCH.

The dedicated, industrious and resourceful Volunteers have been working through the winter creating new displays and enhancing existing ones. A lot of additional artefacts are on display throughout the museum. Nothing is gone (except a few cobwebs perhaps) but a lot has been added and some displays restructured. The shop in the Guardroom has been fully refitted and looks really smart. Trouble is I will not know where to find anything!! We did promise ourselves an easy winter this year but it did not happen that way, but the end result is certainly worth the effort.

It is hard to believe that we are nearly a fifth of the way through the Century and it seems only the other day that the world was planning for imminent disaster with the arrival of the year 2000. 75 years since the allied invasion of Europe, D Day. There will be many commemorations, the biggest in Normandy itself, but locally FOWEY is just one of the places that will be holding a special weekend. The Museum is not planning to hold a D Day event itself, but at the end of June we will have our Annual Armed Forces Weekend courtesy of WWIIRESW.

We at the CORNWALL AT WAR MUSEUM look forward to greeting new first time visitors and welcoming back those who have been before.
