    • Motions
      • that the Board of Education direct the Superintendent to consult with Victoria Confederation of Parents Advisory Councils and the appropriate VCPAC sub-committee for input on the development of a stakeholder engagement process for Inclusive Education in SD61 in advance of the Strategic Plan renewal process.
      • that the Board of Education direct the Superintendent to produce surveys for the purpose of gathering feedback on the District’s Learning Support Operational Plan’s goals.
  • Combined Operations Policy and Planning Committee 
    • Motion:
      • that the Board of Education direct the Superintendent to ensure that all forms used by the District that require individuals to report gender information include non-binary options.

VCPAC Award Nominations

Nominations are being accepted until May 3rd for the 2019 VCPAC Awards. We have many amazing people in our district and this is our chance to show our appreciation of their contributions to our students. Our awards ceremony will take place during our May meeting.

VCPAC Call for Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for VCPAC Executive positions. Information can be found here. Please have a sponsoring PAC send in your nomination to info@vcpac.ca by April 19th. Nominations may also be made from the floor.

Educational Opportunities

VCPAC has funding for four parents to attend the BCCPAC Conference.  If you have a parent who is interested, please send an email to info@vcpac.ca

VCPAC also has some funding to help parents attend the Inclusion BC Conference in Victoria.  Please send requests to info@vcpac.ca

AGM Information

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for members will be held on May 4-5, after our annual conference on May 3, at the Pacific Gateway Hotel in Richmond BC.

Our AGM will include board elections, review of budget and financials and the adoption of new Resolutions. On Sunday, we continue with the AGM and focus on hearing from our members during the Committee of the Whole.

Candidates at a Glance
The following nominations were received by February 28, 2019, and have been reviewed by the Nominations Committee. Information about each candidate can be reviewed in the current version of the 2019 AGM Booklet. Members will vote on these candidates during the AGM:

Proxy Voting and Proxy Speaking Forms - Deadline April 26
  • All Regular Members in good standing who paid their membership dues by December 31, 2018 are entitled to vote at the AGM. All Proxy Vote Forms must be completed and signed by two members of that member’s PAC/DPAC executive in order for an official delegate to exercise voting rights during the AGM. To expedite registration and operations, members are encouraged to scan and email completed Proxy Vote forms to the office in advance of the AGM.
  •  All Regular Members in good standing who paid their membership fees after December 31, 2018 are entitled to attend and speak, but not vote, at the AGM. All Non-Voting Regular Members who wish to speak during the AGM must designate an official delegate(s) to speak on their behalf. Each Non-Voting Regular Member must complete their own authorized Proxy Speaking Form with the appropriate council executive signatures. To expedite registration and operations, members are encouraged to scan and email completed Proxy Vote forms to the office in advance of the AGM. 
  • For those members who are unable to attend the AGM in May, we encourage you to contact a member PAC or DPAC to represent you via Proxy Vote. The current membership list is online.
Special Resolutions
Members have been submitting both Special and Ordinary Resolutions. All vetted Special Resolutions can be reviewed in the current version of the 2019 AGM Booklet which will be updated as the Resolution Committee reviews and vets the received member Resolutions. Whether you are attending the AGM in person or through Proxy Vote, it’s important you read the proposed Resolutions before you vote.

VCPAC has a mailing list service, free of charge, available to all PACs. If your PAC would like to have a subscription-based email list, which parents can automatically opt in and out of, contact info@vcpac.ca

Article ideas and submissions can be sent via e-mail to info@vcpac.ca . Submissions should be sent to us no later than Friday, 9 PM prior to the day of distribution. Communications retains the right to edit all submissions for clarity.
