e-Newsletter

Connecting our community!

Message from the Mayor

Welcome to the March  2019 edition of our e-newsletter. Following recent community requests I would like to introduce a new segment in this and future newsletters "Meet the Staff" where we introduce members of the Town's staff and provide a brief profile as well as their role at the Town of East Fremantle.  This edition will feature our Chief Executive Officer, Gary Tuffin.

Also a huge thank you to everyone who participated in our recent 2019 Community Perceptions Survey. The results are currently being collated and will be presented to Council and staff next month. This will guide and direct the Town in addressing the aspirations of our community.
The Draft Vision Report for the East Fremantle Oval Precinct Revitalisation Project is currently available for public comment, with submissions closing on 24 April. The Town is also hosting a Community Presentation about the Draft Vision Report, details of which are below.  It would be great if as many people as possible could make a submission. It is extremely important that this document reflects the wishes of residents and ratepayers.
An online survey is also being conducted in relation to the Town's Integrated Traffic Management and Movement Strategy - please see below for details about how you can provide input. The Public Comment period for Modifications to Scheme Amendments 14 & 15 has now closed.  Further details will be provided via future e-newsletters and the Town's website.
Glasson Park users, local residents and businesses will be happy to know that the Town is progressing with the public toilet installation in the Park - details are also below.
Regards - Mayor Jim O'Neill

Meet the Staff - Gary Tuffin - Chief Executive Officer

I’m married to Debbie and have two fur babies (Chester & Ella). I like to maintain good personal health and fitness, and being a Dockers tragic, enjoy watching AFL, and not so long ago playing in an amateur competition. I love to throw myself down snow covered mountains skiing at least once a year…it’s a must for me!

Experience

I commenced with the Town of East Fremantle in March 2016, and have worked in local government for nearly 22 years, serving the last 17 years as a CEO for three other local governments. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting & Finance, and to further my professional development, I’m currently studying a MBA in leadership.

Role at the Town

As Chief Executive Officer it is my role to keep the Town running smoothly and ensure what we do supports your vision for East Fremantle and creates a vibrant and sustainable community that everyone can enjoy.

Online Traffic Survey - Have Your Say

Traffic Management continues to be a major issue for the Town and in recognition of the importance of this issue to our community we have engaged Cardno (Engineers) to undertake an Integrated Traffic Management and Movement Strategy.  The Strategy will consist of three distinct plans, being Parking Management, Traffic Management & Movement and Active (pedestrian & cyclists) Transport Plan. The Strategy will provide strategic information to enable the Town to better plan and progress future budgets, works and outputs. The analysis will also assist with Strategic documents and policies.
We value your input and encourage all residents and business operators within the Town to participate in the online survey  - please go to the Town’s website www.eastfremantle.wa.gov.au and follow the link on the home page to the survey.  Alternatively hard copies are available at the Town’s administration.
