The PTA's annual sponsored bounce is always an eagerly anticipated event by the children. Not only does each child get the chance to break up the normal school day by jumping on a bouncy castle – who wouldn’t love that – but the children get a chance to actively raise money to improve their school.
This year we are asking the children to Bounce for Bytes to further improve the schools IT equipment. Money raised will be used to purchase coding resources for the Foundation phase, to enable the teaching of basic coding skills before KS2. Current laptops will be redistributed across KS2 and more age appropriate devices purchased for Foundation. ‘Talking Clipboards’ are also on the wish list, enabling independent access to activities where children may have difficulty with following instructions/reading etc. which would be used across the school where required.
The investment in IT is an ongoing project between the school and PTA. Last year, thanks to a grant from Dow Silicone, we were able to purchase programmable Lego and Micro:bit, which KS2 have been enjoying coding, along with new ipad cases and charging units for the entire school.
