Play On at the Chatham Playhouse
One plucky community theater is about to produce a show called Murder Most Foul: a new “murder mystery play” with the same title as an Agatha Christie novel but with no relation whatsoever.  A hilarious love letter to community theater.

A uproarious behind-the scenes comedy in the tradition of Noises Off. An unlucky troupe of actors desperately tries to put on a play in spite of meddling from the playwright. Will they manage to pull off the opening night without a hitch? Of course not! Don’t miss this non-stop, mischievous backstage romp of a play that revels in the amateurish pitfalls and ego-driven excesses of community theater. At just under two hours, though, including two intermissions, Play On! will move fast enough that it won’t have the time to outwear its welcome.

THEATER CREATIONS CAMP

Calling all 7- to 11-year-olds who love performing!

Theater Creations Camp 2019

Monday, Aug 5, 2019 - Friday, Aug 16, 2019

Weekdays, 9:00 am - 12 noon

Come make magic with us!  Be part of The Chatham Community Players Theater Creations Camp.

Our campers will learn the fundamentals of acting onstage while using their imaginations and artistic creativity to develop their very own play!  Through various games and exercises, our campers will also learn about different theatrical elements and how they are used to shape a performance.  An original script will be created using the campers chosen story-line and characters.

This work will be rehearsed and ultimately presented on stage at the Chatham Playhouse in a full performance with no scripts in hand for family and friends.

The two week camp is only $325 per camper.

For more information, visit the Theater Camp web page or email TheaterCamp@ChathamPlayers.org.

JERSEY VOICES’ CALL FOR ORIGINAL WORKS

Deadline March 15

The Chatham Community Players is seeking original, one-act plays, short musicals and/or original dance pieces, written by New Jersey authors, for Jersey Voices' 25th Annual Production.

It is once again time to be thinking about submitting one-acts for Jersey Voices 2019. This year’s deadline is March 15th, less than one month away!

So please put the finishing touches on those plays sitting on your desk/desktop and send them along. This year, like last year, we are only accepting submissions by e-mail to the address listed below.

Play submissions of any genre (including short musical and dance pieces), style and length up to roughly 15 minutes running time will be accepted through March 15, 2019. Selected pieces will each be performed in our Black Box Theater in Chatham on the last weekend in July and first weekend in August.

If we've not chosen your work in the past, please don't give up on us. Each year we have produced new pieces by an author whose work we've passed over in the past; it usually has more to do with trying to balance 6 separate pieces for an enjoyable evening of theater than it has to do with the quality of the piece which has been passed over. In fact, under these circumstances, we have often held over a piece we've liked and given it consideration in the following year. Often these 'holdovers' have subsequently been chosen, produced, and favorably received.

We are looking forward to seeing your work this year and, as we know that many of you come to see Jersey Voices, to seeing you again this summer. If you have not already introduced yourself, when you're in the audience please stay for the reception we have after each performance and introduce yourself. We'd love to meet you.

If you have any questions, visit our website at www.ChathamPlayers.org or send an e-mail to JerseyVoices@ChathamPlayers.org

We're accepting scripts this year by e-mail only to: JerseyVoices@ChathamPlayers.org.
