March 9 - Battle of the Badges
Brooks Middle School, 1-3 p.m.
Battle of the Badges pits the Oak Park Police Department against the Oak Park Fire Department in a thrilling game of basketball, all in support of the OPRF Best Buddies club and Special Olympics Illinois. Enjoy carnival games, food, raffles, costumes, and a halftime performance you won't want to miss! Suggested donation: $5/person or $20/family.

Junior Ella Brown was named a Jewish United Fund ‘18 Under 18’ 2019 honoree. Honorees are selected for their leadership, fostering of inclusion, and other Jewish values. Click here to learn more. 

Junior Andie Corsino has been selected to represent Oak Park as a 2019 Washington Youth Summit on the Environment National Youth Delegate. She joins a select group of 300 students from across the country to participate in an intensive, week-long study of leadership in environmental science and conservation at George Mason University.

Congrats to the Science Olympiad teams for placing 7th (Varsity) and 6th (JV) overall in their respective classes at the Neuqua Valley Regional competition this past weekend! The teams brought home 11 medals. 

Performing Arts students brought home a total of eight Division II Excellent Ratings and 37 Division I Superior Ratings from the IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest this past weekend. Our Huskies rank 11th in the state of Illinois in the vocal category.

Senior Maeve Doody (pictured here) has qualified for the Speech and Debate Nationals following her performance in Humorous Interpretation at the Illini District Tournament. Maeve will go on to compete in a six-day tournament in Dallas, TX in mid-June. Additionally, sophomore Kathryn Curtin placed in the top eight in Informative Speaking and senior Manny Flores placed in the top 13 in Oratory.

Congrats to senior baseball player Nathan Diamond who was selected as the 2019 Steven Bajenski/Do It Stevie's Way 219 Scholarship Award winner.

Hemingway Foundation scholarship opportunity
OPRF juniors are invited to enter the annual Hemingway Foundation Student Scholarship Essay Contest. Entrants must write a 300- to 600-word essay that conveys how they feel about their hometown. Submissions are due by April 2, 2019. Learn more here

Physical Education teacher Joe Conway was chosen by the GO! Innovation Team as its February honoree. Mr. Conway's morning greetings (often by name) give students and faculty the boost they need to start their mornings off on the right foot. 

The dad-to-be received a custom GO! onesie for his little one to wear proudly.
