Come, we that love the Lord,
And let our joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
And thus surround the throne.
We’re marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We’re marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
Do you know this hymn? (listen here) It's a beautiful hymn that reminds us we are on a journey toward perfection. Together, we are on a journey to realize the kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven.
Along that journey, we may find ourselves frustrated, grateful, disappointed, hopeful, and any myriad of emotions. This past weekend, the General Conference of The United Methodist Church met and made decisions regarding our stance on ordination of self avowed practicing homosexuals and performing same sex unions. Read and watch the information HERE from our Bishop and lead delegates about this decision.
No matter how we feel about the decisions made at General Conference, I am grateful that the Lenten season is upon us all, and that all across our global connection, we will be journeying together toward the cross of Christ. Lent is a season for reflection, repentance, and returning to God "With All Your Heart." That will be our focus from Ash Wednesday (March 6th, 6:30p) through Easter. I hope you will join me on this journey.
Blessings,
Pastor Kris
