The SWEP is going global

Is sanitation more important than being Swiss? We believe so. Especially if we look at it from a global perspective. So, we decided to change our name from “Swiss Water Entrepreneurship Pact” to “Sanitation and Water Entrepreneurship Pact”. This name change also reflects our focus: We are the network of water and sanitation entrepreneurship enablers. Acting on a global level – and welcoming all global players to join hands to support entrepreneurs in realising access to water and sanitation for all.

As part of a new project, Antenna's R&D department has developed an automated solar-powered chlorination module for small to large scale water towers. Currently, 6 drinking water supply networks in rural areas of Burkina Faso are getting equipped with this new technology. The solar powered system produces chlorine locally with WATA technology and pumps it in the water tower for water treatment.

WATER ENTREPRENEURSHIP STORY (3)

LIVE CLEAN:
Giving human waste a value while providing safe, clean and affordable toilets

When Mwila Lando started as a social entrepreneur, he was more concerned with farming than sanitation…until he came face to face with the toilet facilities in public markets in peri-urban areas of Lusaka. He suddenly realised how big a challenge sanitation was and has since made it his mission to provide clean, safe and affordable toilet and shower facilities. Starting a business in the sanitation sector in Zambia has not been without its challenges,  but Live Clean has already successfully installed several toilet and shower containers across Zambia. Read the interview
