GeoBeer #26 Program,
and Diversions

Hey friends!

Just a few quick updates and heads-ups on GeoBeer #26:

Increased quota
As the ticket quota of 30 was gone very quickly and the waiting list started to fill up, our sponsors, OPENGIS.ch, generously allocated an additional 20 spots! Thank you very much from the GeoBeer community! This step by them allowed us to nearly empty the waiting list – yay! It also means that if you'd love to attend, you might still consider inscribing yourself into the waiting list. We can't make promises, but you stand a chance to receive a ticket somebody may cancel (also: if you have to cancel your ticket, please do so as soon as possible by clicking the link in the mail you got from Ti.to. This way, we can give your ticket to somebody else.)

Program
Further, we have defined the program for GeoBeer #26! Our March 21st event starts at 18:40 and consists of the following contributions:
  • Intro by the GeoBeer Team
  • Welcome Note from OPENGIS.ch
  • Lightning talk Technical challenges for a global seismic assessment by Daniele Viganò, Global Earthquake Model Foundation
  • Apéro Riche
Finally
If you'd like to shorten the time until GeoBeer #26 with some geo-related news and entertainment: Why not look into some geo-, GIS-, and cartography-related podcasts? We shared some channels we know in this tweet. Let us know if you have recommendations. Or, if podcasts are not your thing, have you read the baffling story about the case of the 500 mile e-mail yet? Very entertaining and (or «although»? ;-) it stars a geostatistician (← wow, that's hard to spell) and spatial analysis:

«We can’t send mail more than 500 miles,» the chairman explained.

I choked on my latte. «Come again?»

That's it for now. Let us know if any questions arise in the meantime. Otherwise we're looking forward to welcoming you in Bern on March 21st!

You have a great time until then!

– Anne, Stephan, and Ralph
