Are They Watching?

Our first week in Melbourne, Australia has been a mixed bag. We brought a small bug with us from our recent travels, so we have been catching up on our sleep more than usual. That said, we've walked around the city a good bit and totally get why Australia has such a buzz. It's gorgeous down here.

Our 9-hour flight from Bangkok was one of the worst we've experienced from a comfort standpoint. It was brutal. But what can I expect in economy class at 6'6 on a budget airline, right? It was a new airplane with horrible seating, so I was checking for cameras in the dashboard as I adjusted continuously.

Speaking of flights, I hope you guys took advantage of that Southwest credit card deal I mention a few weeks ago because they are getting CRAZY with flights to their recently-announced route to Hawaii. Prices are dropping like mad. If the islands are on your bucket list, this might be the year to book.

Nikki's book - Passport Joy: Reflections on Life, Love, & Other Stuff While Traveling the World - is ranked #1 in her category on Amazon which is freaking awesome. If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, please do. And if you have, and enjoyed it, we would really appreciate you taking the time to leave her a review on Amazon. That is the best way to help her get in front of new readers.

The latest episode of World Barber Shop Adventures is posted from Hyderabad, India. If you ever wanted to see me dance to Indian music, here is your chance. This was an enjoyable episode to create.

This week's podcast episode is Podcast 53: Kolkata (Calcutta) India {23 Hours in the City of Joy}

We had the chance to spend 23 hours in Kolkata on a long layover from Hyderabad, India to Bangkok, Thailand, so we jumped on it. Based on a relationship that I had in the city, we set up a local guide who took us to a few authentic places that left us with a sense of how the people of Kolkata really live. We tested many of the excellent street food options including the chicken egg roll, puchkas, and bhapa doi. We rode on the crowded train from the extremely busy Howrah Station.

Visiting the College Street Coffee House is a must in Calcutta, so we made sure we sipped coffee in the busy upstairs hall. In and out of rickshaws, uber, and taxis, we saw the vibrant city and even had the chance to slow down for a shave with a street barber. We had a great time on our short visit in the former capital of India, please listen along on this fun episode of Passport Joy Travel Talk.

Gotta go catch up on lost time and see more of this beautiful city.

*Put tape on your laptop cameras (cause they really are watching).
