Students had a great time celebrating "Drop Everything and Read" (DEAR) Week and Read Across America Week, which included Dr. Seuss's birthday!

New Ukuleles for Music Education

We have an exciting development in our Banford music program: Students are going to have the opportunity to learn the ukulele! Over break, our new ukuleles arrived. Many thanks to Jason from our maintenance staff for putting together the storage hooks and having them all ready for the kids. We are excited about the possibilities of this initiative. It will build a nice foundation for students as they continue on in music here at Canton Central!

Positivity Concert

3rd graders put on a fantastic performance for their Positivity Concert! They performed "Upstanding Citizen," "Feelin' Good," "Gratitude Attitude," "Agents of Change," "Character Tango," and "Shalom" for Banford students, their parents and families over the course of various performances!

Middle School Dispatch

Black History Month

The fifth grade recently completed a project that required students to research a famous African American who exemplifies perseverance. Classes spent 40 minutes a day in the library for five days working in pairs to learn about their famous African American individual. Then they worked together in their classrooms with their teachers to create their poster and bottle buddy model.

Junior Iron Chef

The North Country Junior Iron Chef competition takes place tomorrow at A.A. Kingston Middle School in Potsdam. Our very own Green Thumb Gourmets, Andrew King, Kayla Larrabee and Kaden Worthley will be preparing a scrumptious Southwest Sunshine Salad with a delicious cilantro-lime dressing, made with ingredients grown here in the middle school in our 24:45 Organics grow rack system, Tower Garden and school garden. Kudos to the Gourmets, the Green Team members, 24:45 Organics, and Art Teacher, Ms. Matos, who helped support the project by planting and tending the plants, and helping with many other preparations for the event. Please wish the team luck and feel free to come cheer them on at the event!
