THE SAVE MOVEMENT AROUND THE WORLD

IN THIS ISSUE

Our Weekly News Update

Save Movement vigils in Los Angeles made the front page of one of the world's top newspapers!
Please read this L.A. Times front page article by Gustavo Arellano and photographer Rob Gauthier about Animal Alliance Network and Los Angeles Animal Save vigils, which are held on Wednesdays and Sunday nights, respectively. It's an incredible, emotive article in favour of bearing witness and ending the violence:
As pigs await slaughter at Farmer John, strangers offer water, love and comfort to the doomed

“It’s a sad reality check. This is your bacon here, scared.”
- Angelica Gonzalez
Metro UK also published a great article about Animal Alliance Network and Los Angeles Animal Save vigils, held on Wednesdays:
Animal rights group gives pigs water and massages as they arrive at slaughterhouse to die
Eder Lopez, who helps organize the Wednesday vigils, tries to put himself in the pigs’ place: “When you see these trucks come in, just imagine yourself in them,” he said. “Would you want someone to comfort you, even if just two minutes?”
L.A. Times readers express support for the vigils:
If you eat meat, you need to go to a slaughterhouse vigil for pigs in Vernon
Please watch: Jane UnChained interviews Moby outside the Farmer John slaughter plant during the March 10 vigil.
Please watch: Jane UnChained's interviews Animal Alliance Network's Ellen Dent,  Los Angeles Animal Save's Amy Jean Davis and The Save Movement's co-founder Anita Krajnc.

Global Strike For Future
The Climate Save Movement is supporting and joining the March 15th Global Climate Strike For Future! Inspired by Greta Thunberg, thousands of students across the globe have started striking regularly, demanding that governments take action. The message is clear from the youth of the world. We must not continue jeopardizing their future and immediately reduce our
greenhouse gas emissions caused by our reliance on fossil fuels and animal agriculture. Governments around the world need to implement policies that will transform the fossil fuel industry to renewables and move animal agriculture toward a sustainable plant-based industry. Individually the biggest impact everyone can have is to stop consuming animal products and go vegan.
Please join a local action or if there aren't any planned, consider starting one yourself or contacting The Climate Save Movement to assist in setting one up. Global Map of events: https://www.fridaysforfuture.org/events/map

They report from their first vigil: "We saved 9 lives at Surat Animal Save's first vigil 💙  Why are they pink and orange? In the egg industry male chicks are useless by-products. Most of the time they are killed straight away after birth by grinding or suffocating. In India they are often colored to attract buyers -- people buy them for children to use as toys after which they are killed for meat. Also farmers buy male chicks and raise them for 12 weeks before slaughtering them."

Veganuary is great for anyone to get started.

Donate Today!

Toronto Pig Save started in December 2010, with a promise to the pigs of doing a minimum of three vigils and vegan outreach events each week, all year round. We bear witness as a community of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animal victims in slaughterhouse trucks. The animals want us to be present and, with the most pleading eyes, ask for our help when we see them through the portholes of transport trucks. Just as if we were in those horrid trucks, we would want the whole community to be there fighting for our freedom, liberation, rights, and equality. In a way, we are there. All life is one and, “when (wo)men wish to harm others, they really do evil to themselves,” Leo Tolstoy said in his animal rights story “Esarhaddon, King of Assyria”. It’s our positive duty and obligation to act in the present to try to stop the most egregious injustices before us.

"When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy

In 8 years, The Save Movement has grown to over 630 Save groups in 69 countries around the world. Our dream is to have regular vigils at every slaughter plant worldwide. We regularly give seed money to new Save groups and require funds for literature, posters, subway ad campaigns (iVegan.ca) and vegan outreach events.

Make animal liberation your priority in life! Think of 10 kind things you can do each day and encourage your friends to do the same! Join us and participate in our weekly vigils, start a Save group in your community, and be a regular donor.
