Time for the 7th Annual Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Clean Up Event

Registration is now open for the 7th Annual Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Clean Up Event scheduled for Saturday, April 6, starting at 9 am. Since the first event, over 1,100 volunteers have removed over 16,000 pounds of trash and debris from the watershed! If everyone gives a little of their time, together it can make a huge difference!

Volunteers can go online to register for the location they will show up at to gather clean up supplies, breakfast refreshments, and a limited number of special event T-shirts. Maps and directions will be available at each location that will direct volunteers where to go to pick up litter. Help us advertise by clicking here to download a flyer to post.

Click here to register to meet at 9am at any of the 3 locations listed below:
  • Irma Lewis Seguin Outdoor Learning Center
  • Navarro High School Parking Lot
  • The New Braunfels Airport (corner of Airport Rd and Entrance Drive)
The clean up focuses on the sides of public roadways and creek crossings that have public access. We focus clean up efforts in these areas, because when it rains, trash on these areas wind up getting washed into the creeks.

There is not a "rain out date" or make-up date, so please dress accordingly for the weather. Please bring gloves (if you have them, otherwise we will have a limited supply) and jeans and boots or closed toe shoes are recommended. We will provide trash bags and a limited number of grabber tools.

Since the majority of the clean up locations will be along roadways, please watch for traffic and always be cautious for hazards. There is no minimum age allowed, but we ask that you provide adequate adult supervision of any minors. Crossing roadways by foot is not safe, and volunteers should "pick" a side of the roadway and try to reduce road crossings as much as possible.

Financial donations allow us to provide refreshments and special event T-shirts. If you are interested in getting your organization's name or logo on the special event T-shirts, click on the "Sponsor Letter" link or simply contact Ward Ling at 979-845-6980 or wling@tamu.edu

Forms are available for those needing proof of community service hours for school organizations.

Thank you for volunteering to help make our community a better and cleaner place to live!

Funding for this effort is provided through a federal Clean Water Act §319(h) Nonpoint Source Grant administered by the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
