Unreal City book cover
Dear <<First Name>>
I hope 2019 is shaping up nicely for you!
It's all go here, as usual, mainly involving my Unreal City project, but also developing ideas for several exciting new projects.
I'm very pleased to report that Unreal City was featured in The London Magazine in January and also in the latest edition of Time & Leisure Magazine. Please see below for details.
We had a great launch party for the project last week, with Leee John (lead singer of Imagination), Mel Gaynor (ex-drummer of Simple Minds), Cheri Class MBE (music promoter and mentor), Leroy Logan MBE (former superintendent in the Metropolitan Police) and Amadin Ryan (documentary filmmaker and agent) among the many lovely guests.
I would like to invite you to my next event which will be in London on the 21st of March from 4-9 pm. This will be a FREE champagne reception with an opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions. There will be a rolling presentation with all the pictures in the book, as well as a chance to buy limited edition prints at a significant discount to help raise funds for the project.
If you would like to attend the reception please register here >> https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/unreal-city-champagne-reception-tickets-55015733540.
If you would like to support the project you can do so via the fundraising page >> https://www.gofundme.com/unreal-city-photobook or directly from my website >> https://www.adriaanvanheerden.com/product-category/unreal-city-fundraising/.
I hope you can make it on the 21st and I look forward to seeing you there!
Here's what some people have said so far about the project:
"Incredible” — The London Magazine
"Van Heerden shows that Eliot’s view of the world has within it a humanity to which these pictures give vivid, if harsh, reality” — Bernard O’Donoghue
"'Unreal City' dovetails beautifully with T.S. Eliot's seminal poem 'The Waste Land'. Van Heerden's contemporary translation through poetic imagery captures the immediacy of London, a city still full of power and sadness, illumination and darkness." — Laura Noble
“Unreal City is just wonderful – I’m in awe! Hauntingly atmospheric and intuitively perceptive” — Annamarie Dzendrowskyj
“Mind-blowing” — Sue Williams
“Such an original and creative project – basically a photographic poem” — Dr Mahlet Zimeta
“A high profile publishing project of considerable cultural significance” — Julian Roup

Final Word
The final word this time goes to the American photographer Diane Arbus, whose extraordinary pictures are currently on show at the Hayward Gallery in London: “A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know.”
Until next time ...
