Future Land Use Map Meetings

The City of Fayetteville invites the public to upcoming meetings to discuss future land uses in the community. Input could potentially be used on a new comprehensive land use map, which is part of an overall update of the City’s comprehensive land use plan, one of City Council’s Targets for Action for Fiscal Year 2020. Members of City staff and the Stewart consulting team will be in attendance to take comments and answer any questions the public has. More Info

Red-Cockaded Woodpecker Named Official City Bird

The City of Fayetteville has named the Red-Cockaded Woodpecker its official City Bird following a vote of the Fayetteville City Council at its Feb. 25 regular meeting. That same Woodpecker is also the name and mascot for Fayetteville’s new Minor League Baseball team and is common to the Fayetteville area. More Info

Fayetteville Hosts Big South 2019 Baseball Tournament May 21-25 at SEGRA Stadium

The 2019 Big South Conference Baseball Championship presented by Hardee's will be hosted at SEGRA Stadium in Fayetteville, N.C.  The tournament is scheduled for May 21-25, and will feature the top nine teams in the final standings. The first two days (6 games total) will be streamed live on ESPN3, while the third and fourth days (7 games) will be carried live on ESPN+.  The winner of the tournament will receive the Big South Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals. The City's marketing of the event received financial assistance from the Cumberland County Tourism Development Authority (TDA). More Info

Public Views Draft of Downtown Urban Design Plan

On March 5, the City of Fayetteville hosted a public presentation of the Draft Downtown Urban Design Plan. The meeting was led by the City’s consultant team from Urban Design Associates in the Cape Fear Conference Room on the first floor of City Hall. This draft plan will go before City Council in the coming months for adoption. More Info

Portion of Russell Street Closing Monday for Railroad Repair Project

A portion of Russell Street, between S. C Street and S. Eastern Boulevard, will close Monday, March 11 for a CSX Railroad repair project. The crossing is expected to be closed for two to five days, depending on the weather and progress of the project. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes in the area.
