Interbeing Sangha

Weekly Meeting

Please join us for our next weekly gathering, taking place Sunday, March 10th for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Linda Tucker will be bell minding this week.
Mindful Observation of Feelings

"Mindful observation is based on the principle of “non-duality”: our feeling is not separate from us or caused merely by something outside us; our feeling is us, and for the moment we are that feeling. We are neither drowned in nor terrorized by the feeling, nor do we reject it. Our attitude of not clinging to or rejecting our feelings is the attitude of letting go."

Sangha-led Service

Kingston Unitarian

Reminder in follow up to last week: our sangha will be leading the Sunday morning service at Kingston Unitarian Fellowship on Sunday, April 7th at 10:30 am. As with the service we led in 2018, we will share Thay's teachings and our practice with an emphasis on the common ground between us, merging our traditional evening meeting with Sunday morning as a format for the service.
We are seeking volunteers from the sangha to share as many parts of the service as possible. A few have stepped forward (and multiple people may give a reflection) but there are still several spots needed:
  • service leader
  • candle lighting
  • opening reading from Thay *Linda Tucker
  • time for all ages (children's story) *Cat London
  • guided lovingkindness meditation *Susan Howlett
  • reflection(s) on "Wholeness" (source: Thay's teachings) *Keith Gawronski-McNinch (others?)
  • closing reading from Thay
  • greeters at the door
We hope to have as many of our sangha family participate as possible... especially non-KUF members. If you are interested in taking an active role in the service, please contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com
Anchored in the Present

"The Buddha said that we should not be afraid of the past; but he did warn us not to lose ourselves in it, either. We should not feed our regret or pain over the past, and we should not get carried away by the past. We do need to study and understand the past, however, because by looking deeply into the past we learn a lot of things that can benefit the present and the future. The past is an object of our study, of our meditation, but the way to study it or meditate on it is by remaining anchored in the present moment."

Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
