Update & Events

Our riding calendar is here!

We had a great planning meeting, and have put together the list of rides and events for 2019.   While there is more riding on this list than most would ever be able to attend, we're always looking for more!

If you are planning on a trip and are looking for others to attend, or if you have interest in going somewhere, post it up on the BMW TCD forum.  There are always others looking for places to go.  It could be any local or far away destination.  The best part of the club is being able to take advantage of our community of riders.   So, our 2019 is more of a starting point.  Many of the best rides of the year are the pick-up or ad-hoc rides among members that are not 'officially' on the calendar.  (James Bay, Quebec is on my list this year...)

The 2019 TCD Calendar is listed at the end of this email.  All of our favorites are back.  The Longest Day, Thumb Run, Color Tour, and Edmund Fitzgerald.  Plus some newer rides (Ohio Road & Trail), and ADV Rallies (Stolen Pig, Touratech Dirt Daze).  We look forward to seeing you on a ride this year!

TCD Nites The second Tuesday of the month, we meet at 6:30 p.m. at various locations to break some bread and plot our coming activities. For March we will go back to the Wurst Bar in Ypsilanti.  705 W Cross St, Ypsilanti, MI 48197  See you there on March 12th at 6:30.

Seminars  On Saturday, March 23 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM, BMW Motorcycles of Southeast Michigan is bringing BMW Brand Ambassador Shawn Thomas in to cover Adventure Riding tips and tricks. Shawn has traveled all over the world, including South Africa, Colombia, throughout South America and—most recently—the GS Trophy competition in Mongolia. Shawn knows what it takes to ride abroad and will share his experiences—and fiascos—in a fun and educational setting!
  • Motorcycle Electronics: Understanding the technology contained within your bike—ABS Brakes, Traction Control, Electronic Suspension, and Throttle Response—and how they help you to be a better rider!
  • Adventure Ergonomics: Knowing how to position yourself on the motorcycle for hours of safe and comfortable riding though the backcountry.
  • Riding Gear: Understanding what makes adventure riding gear unique and essential, including abrasion resistance, protective armor, Dual-Sport helmets, Adventure boots and on-road/off-road gloves
