The Madison Mustang

February Newsletter

Hello!

I can’t believe that our mid-winter break is almost here. School will not be in session on March 11-15 due to the break, and we expect all students to return to school on Monday, March 18th.

The MCA’s for math and reading will be given in April and teachers are preparing students for this type of assessment format as well as the content. Our School Improvement Plan goal is to increase our reading and math scores by 10%. Below is a link to MCA test preparation suggestions from the Minnesota Department of Education. More information will be coming home soon regarding specific dates for testing.

Third Grade News
With all the snow days and inside recess our students have been busy exploring teamwork! We got to experience teamwork and STEM activities through our school wide enrichment. 5th grade students challenged our students to build unique towers using only cups, cubes, and sticks. They had a blast! With I Love to Read month coming to an end our students buddied up with our buddy classrooms to read. They were excellent role models to our younger students and encouraged reading within our grade level.
Skyward Family Access

Skyward is a great way to stay informed about your child at school.  Skyward allows you to check your child's lunch balance, report an absence, update your phone contact information and email as well as be in contact with your child's teacher.

PAKRAT Reading
Round four of Madison PAKRAT starts this week.  Please be sure you are reading with your child each night and signing their agenda or PAKRAT sheets.  Last month kindergarten had the highest participation of students in PAKRAT and won a grade level pizza party.  Way to go Kindergarten.
