Annual Southeastern Collegiate Recovery Community Summit

Are you a UofSC student in recovery and interested in learning more about being a leader in the recovery community? Join Gamecock Recovery and other staff and students from our region at the Southeastern Collegiate Recovery Community Summit on May 17-19 in Savannah, Georgia.

The retreat includes camp activities and lectures on leadership skills in recovery, and Gamecock Recovery will be covering most expenses.

Meetings and Workshops

This spring semester, Gamecock Recovery is holding a collection of weekly and monthly recovery meetings and social events.

Friends & Family Support understands that addiction affects the whole family. This weekly group meeting for students affected by a loved one's addiction provides education, resource navigation, and ongoing support needed to address substance use disorder in a healthy and constructive way.

Recovery Meditation is a weekly mindfulness meditation workshop facilitated by our Recovery Coordinator, Larkin. These workshops are designed to incorporate mindfulness practices and tools into recovery.

All Recovery meetings are based on the idea that there are great benefits to bringing people together from multiple recovery pathways. This meeting honors all pathways to recovery, acknowledging that each person’s path is unique and reflects their personal strengths. These meetings are an opportunity for social support that focuses on the hope and healing found in recovery and to connect with others who are initiating and maintaining a recovery lifestyle.

Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART Recovery) provides self-empowering, science-based mutual aid for abstaining from any substance or activity addiction.  The SMART Recovery approach centers on helping individuals enhance and maintain motivation to abstain from addictive behaviors, cope with urges, manage thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and cultivate lifestyle balance. “Introduction to SMART Recovery”
