Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a new treatment to Unique Skin and Body
Although new to Unique, it's not a new treatment within beauty salons and clinics.
This dermaplaning treatment has been performed since the early 1970’s.
Some cultures from the East kept this treatment quiet comparing the women to “shaving” theor skin like a man.
Dermaplaning was originally performed as an alternative to chemical exfoliation and is now performed to prepare the skin for resurfacing or deeper treatments.
Physical exfoliation
Dermaplaning is a treatment promoting physical exfoliation. It uses a specialist instrument designed to remove accumulated dead skin cells and vellus hair. It is non-invasive and non-chemical.
Dermaplaning can be combined with other treatments
Vellus hair
Vellus hair – sometimes called peach fluff – is short and light in its nature. Vellus hair’s purpose is to help regulate body temperature and grows in various places across the body – for example on the soles of feet and palms.

Frequently Asked Dermaplaning FAQs
Will the treatment cause my hair to get darker and stronger?
We only remove the vellus hair and this will not alter your natural hair growth.
We’re cutting the vellus hair at the thickest part. At around day 3 it may appear slightly thicker but as the hair grows it softens and goes back to normal.
Terminal hairs (thick and course) are not treated.
Who can have dermaplaning?
This treatment is recommended for all skin types except those with active acne and men with heavy facial hair.
How is dermaplaning different from a peel?

This treatment gives a good alternative to chemical treatments with no downtime.
How long does the treatment take?
It takes around 30-45 mins
What is the cost of the Treatment?
It is usually $65.00 but for the month of March 2019 it will be $50.00
How do I treat my skin after treatment?
You need to treat your skin gently - no hard abrasives or strong products. Always use a sunscreen
What should I expect after my dermaplaning treatment?
Your skin will immediately look more radiant.
Whilst exfoliation is the main result, it does remove the peach fluff which is an added benefit.
As mentioned above, another benefit is that enables skin care products to penetrate your skin more thus making them more effective.
It is important to use SPF as the skin is more susceptible to the sun’s exposure.
How often should I have the dermaplaning treatment?
On average every 21-28 days as this coincides with the skin’s natural rejuvenation.
