A HES alumni has informed HES of this opportunity: The interns roles are not posted here but we are currently looking for interns. We would need resumes by March 20th. TBSI Research

URISE @ UC Berkeley, through the Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI).
If accepted, then you'll do 9weeks of research at UC Berkeley, with a stipend, and housing. See the website for details.

You can do research in any of the TBSI labs. Although it's organized through TBSI, all research is done at UC Berkeley and you actually have to be a US citizen. No need to speak Chinese.

The deadline was Feb 14 2019, but the directo only received 14 applications, and half of them aren't eligible because you must be a US citizen. They want more students to apply, so they are keeping the deadline open. This all means that any HES member (who is a US citizen) would have a VERY STRONG chance of getting accepted if they apply.
