Dear Parents and Carers,

Attendance Lottery Winners:
Year 7: Sarah Year 8: Karna'e Year 9 : Jehan KS4: Jason
Congratulations to our winners!

Jamal Balogun
There is a book of condolences in the school reception. Please feel free to leave messages. If you would like to support the family in anyway, they have asked the school to pass on information about the Dravet Syndrome UK charity website and the link page for donations. Click on the link to find out more. Please mention Jamal’s name if you make a donation.
Our continued thoughts are with Jamal’s family at this very difficult time.

Lost Property
We have two boxes full of lost property. Jumpers and shirts with no name on them, as well as four pairs of glasses. Please ensure your child's clothing is clearly labelled with their name. Use a permanent marker on the washing label, or you can purchase iron or or sew on named labels very economically from the internet.

RHS School Gardening award
The sixth form horticulture students have achieved the RHS School Gardening Level 3 award. Their prize includes a Rocket Gardens voucher worth £150 for a series of three boxes brimming with vegetable and fruit plug plants, delivered to the school during term time.

Well done to all the gardeners! We should have a great crop of fruit and vegetables in the summer and autumn!

Late pupils
This term there seems to have been an increase in the number of pupils coming late to school. This message is only for the pupils who come with their parents or independently. Parent/Carers please can we ask that you ensure your child goes to bed early to get a good nights sleep and wakes up early to allow ample time for getting ready and travelling to school. It is disruptive to the rest of the class when pupils come in late and wastes time for the teachers as they have to spend time going through the lesson objectives again with that child. It is in the best interest of the child to arrive early and get the most out of the education provision. As a reminder, please note that lessons begin at 8.35am and school opens to pupil at 8am where there is also a breakfast club which is open to all students free of charge.

Parent Carer Advice Sessions
Do you need advice or support? The Brent Carers Centre is a charity providing advice and guidance to family carers in Brent on a wide range of subjects including benefits. See their website for more details, or phone 020 3802 7070.

They can check your family entitlement to benefits and help with benefit claims and forms. They can look for grants for families who are struggling financially for things like uniforms or white goods.

They offer support groups, forums activities and respite for carers.

They are holding confidential advice clinics over the next few months on the following dates.
Monday 25th March, Monday 20th May and Monday 15th July.

Please contact Patsy at Woodfield on 0208-205-1977 if you would like to attend a clinic, or for any further information.

Emergency contact information
Parent/Carers may recall being sent a form requesting additional emergency contact numbers. This is now a legal requirement. The school specifically requires two additional numbers other than the parents. In the event of an emergency where we cannot get hold of the primary parent / carer; we have another point of contact who may be able to get hold of the parent / carer in another form. Please contact the school office to provide us with the additional numbers if you think you may not have returned the form.

Makaton
Makaton is a language programme that is used in conjunction with speech to aid the pupils’ understanding of language and help them communicate with each other more effectively. Makaton is used across the school in lessons and break times. We would love for you to learn some signs so that you can sign with your child. See the We Talk Makaton website for more.
