What One Thing?

A wise man I know once told me that people generally overestimate what they can achieve in a day and yet underestimate what they can achieve in a year.
Most of us start our day, week, month or even year with a long list of what needs to be done. We get started on tackling the jobs as fast as we can to shrink the list as quickly as we can.

Some days, we appear to win and get lots done.

Other days, we fail miserably because Life keeps throwing curveballs or because we have simply underestimated the magnitude or complexity of a task.

What if we could simplify our approach and become more effective? Bestselling author Gary Keller suggests we ask ourselves: "What one thing could I do here that would make everything else, either easier or unnecessary?"
It’s a powerful question. It cuts out all the waffle and forces discernment in our decision making – never a bad thing.

One thing, One moment, One step, One last straw, One breath, One significant decision. This is what changes everything – One Thing.
So, let me ask you,

What One Thing; if you were doing it on a regular basis, would have a massive impact on your health?

What One Thing; if you were doing it on a regular basis, would have a massive impact on your career?

What One Thing; if you were doing it on a regular basis, would have a massive impact on your relationships?

What One Thing; if you were doing it on a regular basis, would have a massive impact on your energy levels?

What One Thing; if you were doing it on a regular basis, would have a massive impact on your fitness?

Simple, isn’t it? And that doesn’t always make it easy. But we can’t pretend we don’t know the answer.
