CfP: Workshop: Deep History in the Long Eighteenth Century
ASH will host a workshop on ‘deep history in the long eighteenth century’ with the prominent historian of science Martin Rudwick (University of Cambridge). We welcome scholars from a variety of backgrounds to participate in this workshop.
Participants are asked to write a short (1000-1500 word) introduction to aspects of their research related to the workshop and give a short presentation (10 minutes). The new Ethics and Data Management Review (EMDR) 
As of 1 January 2019 the new Ethics and Data Management Review (EMDR) portal is in operation for the Faculty of Humanities. This portal has a dual purpose:
- request approval of the Ethics Committee when you are working with participants (tests, interviews, observations) in your research project;
- register your research project when you are working with personal information (i.e. ANY information that can be traced back to a specific person).
This is compulsory as of May last year when the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force. This portal combines the two activities to avoid double work.

Nominations 2019 Niels Stensen Fellowship
The Niels Stensen Fellowship Committee supports young postdoctoral researchers with outstanding research and knowledge transfer skills and a high level of social responsibility. The fellowship enables talented researchers to gain experience at a university or institute outside the Netherlands. It will finance the costs of travel, accommodation and living expenses incurred abroad. Every candidate is required to be nominated by two professors at Dutch universities or research institutes. Launch Event – DisPLACE digital archive for disability history

DisPLACE (Disability in Public Life and Cultural Expression) is a digital platform for the collection and interpretation of experiences of disability, past and present, by people with disabilities in collaboration with other students, researchers, disability service organizations, and the creative industries. This will be the first archive in the Netherlands to gather and analyse a wide range of historical sources on disabilities in one portal, the first shared virtual environment to collect the cultural heritage of disability here, and the first to make these accessible online to people with a wide variety of disabilities.
The prototype is funded by an NWO Creative Industry – KIEM Grant for the research project ‘Digital Disability Archive’ awarded to Manon Parry (UvA/VU) and collaborating applicants Paul van Trigt (LUIH), Paul Bijl (KITLV), Disability Studies in Nederland, and multimedia partner Driebit. The project is part of a larger initiative by the BIB Network, working to stimulate the collection and interpretation of disability history. Read more

Open Call: Joint Seed Grant Amsterdam Centre for Cultural Heritage and Identity (ACHI) and Centre for Urban Studies (CUS)
In this call grants will be awarded of between €2.500 and €5.000 per grant, up to a total call budget of €20.000. With a well-developed argument grants higher than €5.000 can be also considered. These Seed Grants are provided to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue between urban scholars in the humanities and in the social sciences, and to stimulate original research in the field of Urban Studies. In particular, we aim to enable exchange and collaborations between researchers from the Amsterdam Centre for Cultural Heritage and Identity (ACHI), the Amsterdam Centre for Urban History (ACUH), the ASCA Cities Project and the Centre for Urban Studies (CUS). Cutting Edge Research Fund | Call for proposals reopened
As of 1 September 2018, the UvA FGw Cutting Edge Research Fund will be reopened.
Applications can be submitted continuously until no later than 30 June 2019. Furthermore, the call’s scope has been widen for Research Fellowships, now also enabling applicants to prepare an application by a consortium in the context of the Dutch National Research Agenda (NWA) and the Dutch Top Sectors. NWO Matchmaking events - Dutch National Research Agenda
Researchers who are employed at Dutch knowledge institutions can submit proposals for the organisation of matchmaking events, within one or more of the 25 routes of the Dutch National Research Agenda (NWA) from the portfolio for Research and Innovation. The purpose of the Matchmaking events is to form (new) consortia across the entire knowledge chain and developing proposals for innovative research. For each initiative, a maximum of € 10,000 can be applied for. Read more
