“You don’t have to remind a flower when its time to bloom is near; it has been preparing for it all of its life.”
― Matshona Dhliwayo
As a young mom of three children in the 1990’s, I never dreamed I would become an aesthetician and eventually open a school. I had plans: homeschool my son and two daughters, host tea parties for friends, and one day when my kids were grown, learn to quilt, spin yarn and knit. But I have learned over the past 20 years, life rarely turns out how we “plan”. An old Yiddish proverb states “We plan, God laughs”. I don’t know if He laughs, but I do believe God usually has greater things planned for us than we could even imagine.
After a divorce five years ago, I desired a career in which I could continue homeschooling my youngest daughter and help women look and feel beautiful. At the time I had been teaching a few yoga classes a week; my financial advisor suggested an esthetic license would harmonize with my philosophy of health and beauty. I became a yoga instructor and an aesthetician because someone believed in me and encouraged me.
Spring is my favorite season. After the cold gray days, warmer weather, sunshine, and the buds of leaves and flowers bravely come forth. I was grateful I could be a stay-at-home mom and now it’s a new season in my life. In many ways I feel like this season is where I can truly blossom.
Has someone encouraged you and believed in you and now you are ready to bloom? Be brave; break out of the cold dark earth and let the world see your beauty.
