Region 7 Coalition

The Bonneville Youth Development Council is holding a book drive this year for the annual Idaho Falls Earth Day event. They will collect used books for all ages. Recycling books for the use of others is not only a great way to reduce clutter but also educate and bring a smile to a child or adult. They will be collecting books until April 22nd and the event will be held on April 27th from 10:00am-3:00 pm at the Marmo/Lehto Ice Arena in Idaho Falls. Youth will also be volunteering the day of and reading to kids.

BYDC has received 44 books so far and wants to thank all those who have donated thus far. If you have any spare childrens books and young adult books BYDC would gratefully appreciate your donation!

Region 7 Coalition

Community Youth in Action and Idaho Falls Senior Citizens Community Cente have agreed to partner together in a fantastic facility owned by the City of Idaho Falls. A partnership between C’YA and the IFSCCC will provide collaboration that will be mutually beneficial to both organizations. Seniors will continue all their great programs during the day. Then teens will have access to after-school tutoring, pool tables, ping pong, board games, enrichment classes, snacks, weekend activities, etc. They will also have opportunities to join forces for intergenerational events.

C'YA believes a partnership between youth and seniors is something that will be equally enriching for all parties. These events and programs will bring together diverse groups of people and help dispel negative and inaccurate stereotypes. It will allow people to learn about changes in culture and technology. Youth frequently expose older adults to new technology, vocabulary and social norms, and older adults teach youth about history, traditional cultural values, and customs, as well as provide a sense of identity and understanding.

Region 4 Coalition

Drug-Fee Idaho hosted a DEA, "I Choose My Future" presentation with youth from Boise and Nampa. The DEA program educates students on the different ways that drug use impacts individual communities, countries and the world. With the use of powerful images, short videos, and simple and compelling arguments, students are taught that drug use is never safe and never without harmful consequences for the users and for many others. Agents Bobby and Rocky were absolutely amazing and did a fantastic job in encouraging over 1,500 junior high students!
