Paul Niell and Jennifer Baez Win Inaugural Thoma Foundation Travel Awards

Dr. Paul Niell and doctoral candidate Jennifer Baez are among six scholars chosen as the first ever to receive Carl & Marilynn Thoma Art Foundation travel awards. The mission of the Thoma Foundation is to support research that will make a significant contribution to the understanding of colonial Spanish American art and its history.

Rachel Carlisle Awarded Kress Language School Fellowship

Doctoral student Rachel Carlisle has been awarded a prestigious Kress Language School Fellowship to attend Middlebury Language School. Rachel will spend seven weeks in Vermont this summer completing Middlebury Language School’s immersion program as the 2019 Kress Fellow in German.

Museum Object Exhibition Treasured Cloth: Women’s Art of Polynesia Opens April 4

This spring the undergraduate Museum Object class is curating Treasured Cloth: Women’s Art of Polynesia, an exhibition exploring the art, history, and culture of Polynesian textiles created by Samoan and Tongan women. You can help these students realize their vision by contributing to the project on their fundraising page.

Amy Bowman-McElhone curated an exhibition of Gesche Würfel's photography at the Pensacola Museum of Art, where she is the Director and Chief Curator. Doctoral candidate Stephanie Bender and alumna Krystle Stricklin contributed to the exhibition catalog.
