Pompette is a newsletter that's curated to help you
live through your senses.

How did you celebrate National Oreo Day which was on March 6th? The holiday may have passed by cookies are always a good thing to celebrate.

Even though it’s been around since 1912, the Oreo has never been hotter. More than 450 billion Oreos have been sold and it doesn’t look like that number will slow down anytime soon.

I grew up eating them and since then have watched so many desserts and cocktails be created with the cookie. Do you have any adventures with Oreo cookies?

If you want to make an all natural verison of the Oreo go with a recipe from Martha Stewart or try Original Newman-O's.

Cheers!

Blessed be! XOXO~Shoshi

Oreo Truffles
The first time I tried Oreo Truffles I was at a friend’s soiree on the Lower East Side. The little chocolate cookie treats are balls of pure heaven on the palate. To make them you only need three ingredients. They are the BOMB!

Oreo Truffles

  • 1 pkg. (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened

  • 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed, divided

  • 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted

Directions:

  • Mix cream cheese and 3 cups cookie crumbs until well blended.

  • Shape about into 48 (1-inch) balls. Dip in melted dark chocolate; place on waxed paper-covered baking sheet. Sprinkle with remaining cookie crumbs.

  • Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator.

  • Enjoy!

Kitchen Magick:

  • I’m a big fan of cake, how about you? Next time you want a cake for a bash or just because the Oreo Cake is a wicked choice. This creamy cake is topped with whipped cream and cookies..who could ask for anything more?
  • When you want an eggless and oven-free Oreo treat go with the Oreo Dessert Box. So technically you could make this for a vegan situation if you desire. (Oreos are vegan and kosher by the way).

Bruja On Beer:

  • Winter is coming back and bringing a new beer with it. Brewery Ommegang has created For The Throne, a golden ale, co-fermented with Pinot Grigio and Viognier grape juices. Ommegang makes Belgian style beers in Cooperstown, NY. Their first series of Thrones beer was pretty darn good, I expect this last one to be even better. Be on the look out in April.
  • Malt Liquor.. It’s something that we’ve all probably tried at least once. It has an interesting history. While it was first marketed to bougie white people it took off in the black community. It’s also been a thing for college kids as well, cause cheap booze it how people roll when they are in college. While malt liquor is not hitting the same sales as craft beer, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Pop Witch:

  • Sarah Jessica Parker is releasing a line of wines. Now you know she's going to be a rosé. SJP has said that she loves to have wine with meals and when friends some over so she’s been into wine for some time. I find it interesting that she is working with a winery from New Zealand. I would have thought she would go with a NY winery or France. She’s putting her money where her wine is by being a shareholder. The wines are coming out this summer. I was told that I’ll be sent some samples of the wine, so I will report back.
