School Update
February is back to school month in Nicaragua. You are making a huge impact in the lives of the students at House of Hope by purchasing school uniforms for over 1400 children, and providing scholarships to a Christian school for over 120 children. The kids look so cute in their new school uniforms, especially the preschoolers. It is a joyful time of year for the students and moms alike especially since over a million children aged 6 to 15 in Nicaragua do not have the privilege of going to school.
Aura's Transformation and Graduation!
Four years ago when Aura arrived at House of Hope with her younger children, she was extremely traumatized. She had been living for years with a man who was the father of many of her eight children. He forced her into prostitution and was cruel to his children. He and his brother sexually abused the oldest daughter and when she was violently attacked and became pregnant at age 13, Aura had had enough. When she stood up to him, he attacked her in a drunken rage with a machete. He severely injured her face which is paralyzed on one side and cut off her arm.
At House of Hope, her life has been transformed. She has learned to forgive and to raise her children with kindness. She has worked very hard to learn and grow. Aura’s oldest daughter and her five-year-old granddaughter are now in the healing process at House of Hope as well.
At the end of January, Aura celebrated what The Lord has done in her life. She and her three youngest children moved into their new house on the graduate property. She is starting two new businesses of raising chickens and continuing to make soap which she learned at House of Hope.
Honduras Update
Exciting things are happening at Women of Hope in San Pedro Sula. Many new women are coming into the program and receiving Christ in the monthly evangelistic events. In February, 25 women came in the afternoons for a week to eagerly learn about their identity in Christ. Monday through Friday mornings, the three staff members continue their staff training.
Thrilling news: the building permits came through and the building is underway! This much needed Ministry Center will be in the neighborhood near where the women live and “work”. The first floor, which is the initial phase, will have a large industrial kitchen for the baking program, additional rooms for sewing and woodworking, and a conference room for devotions and discipleship.
You can still be in on the ground floor to help build this vital facility.Your gift of any amount will help to complete the building. In addition you can plan a team of volunteers to come starting in June of this year to work on finishing the building. You can make a difference!
Please continue to pray for the women and children at House of Hope. Our wonderful staff need prayer also as they take on more responsibility. With your assistance, lives are being transformed everyday. Thank you!
