Dear Conway League of Artists members:

There’s a new gallery in town!  The Gallery at St. Peter’s is an exciting new ministry for the Episcopal Church in Conway.  There will be many opportunities for you to participate as an artist, teacher or workshop leader.  In the past months, Suzanne Waggoner and Sheila Parsons have shown their work in the Church Lobby.  Many of you joined Art Pray Love to help raise funds for the medical mission trip to Guatemala.  Jessica Jones was commissioned to paint 3 murals of Guatemala at work and play which will be traveling throughout the Diocese of Arkansas on exhibit.  Bonnie McKay and Jeanetta Darley are teaching classes.  And this is just the beginning.  Future plans include an “Art In Bloom” exhibit,  a miniature painting (postage stamp size) contest and photography exhibit.  If you have an interest in showing your artwork, teaching a class or leading a workshop …contact Marilyn@artexperienceinc.com

The next event planned is a Retrospective with work by former CLA President Marv Crummer.  I hope you will attend the reception on March 24th to honor one of the League’s most accomplished artists.

“Drawing, Painting and Contemplating” - Marv Crummer

An artist’s journey through the decades
March 11-April 26 - The Gallery at St. Peter's

You are invited to the

Special Artist's Reception

Sunday, March 24, 2019

The Gallery at St. Peter’s

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall

925 Mitchell Street

Conway AR 72034

An art show and sale featuring landscapes, seascapes and still-life paintings by Vilonia artist Marv Crummer will open at the Gallery at St. Peter’s on March 11. An artist’s reception will be held on Sunday March 24 from 2-4 in the afternoon in the Parish Hall. The public is invited.

Marv Crummer’s interest in art began early with an interest in cartooning.  While still in high school he sold his first cartoon to a national magazine, and was Art Editor of the school newspaper.  His art education continued in college, studying at Otis Art Institute and Chouinard Art Institute, both in Los Angeles, California.  During this period he worked as a freelance cartoonist, and was a contributing artist to his hometown newspaper, the San Clemente Sun.

Over the years his interest in art turned away from cartooning and toward painting landscapes and seascapes, frequently on-site.  His favorite subject matter is water, which reflects the years he spent on Southern California beaches, including 7 years as a lifeguard in  San Clemente, California.  He is represented in many private collections throughout the United States, has had numerous one man shows, and has won many awards for his work, Including “Best in Show at the 2006 Tri-County art competition in Conway.  Marv is a member of the Arkansas Artists Registry, and a Past-President of the Conway League of Artists.  He resides in Vilonia with his wife Janice, who is also an artist.
