Creating Miracles

This Sunday, March 10th

Celebration Service, 11:00am - 12:15pm

A miracle, basically, is an experience that we think goes against the laws of nature.  But sometimes, when we change something essential in our energy, our intention, or our awareness, it turns out that the miraculous is actually possible -- we just hadn't understood the laws.  This Sunday, we will explore the experience of spiritual energy channeling through us in every spontaneous act of kindness.  When we act compassionately, without expectation of return, Spirit works unseen both in us and in the other person.  In those moments, we activate the Law of Circulation, and participate richly in the Power of Love, which is miraculous indeed.

RUMI BY CANDLELIGHT
Thursday, April 4 and Friday, April 5
7:30-9:30pm

Save the dates!  Each year, a collective of musicians and poets gathers to choose their favorite poems by Rumi, and compose original music to accompany them. They then create a beautiful and flowing performance, and present it in a calm, candlelit space.  We hare happy to announce that they will be returning to UCP for this year's Triangle performance with two dates to accommodate their local fans.  This year's lineup includes Majid Bastani (poetry in English and Farsi, percussion), Betsy Bevan (piano, percussion), Will Ridenour (kora, percussion), and Daniel Chambo (flute, vocals, percussion). There is truly not another performance like it!  Check out the event listing for complete details.

KEEPING UP WITH OUTREACH

COMPASSION FOR WILDLIFE IN ACTION

What if an hour or two of your time could save the lives of wild animals?  Our highway cleanup allows you to do just that. Roadside trash threatens the life of creatures that share our lands whether by choking on plastic, getting stuck in jars or being poisoned by leaching chemicals.  One hour of your time will save bags of trash from harming other life.  Please join us as we devote this small amount of time to being good neighbors to our animal friends, and clearing the roadsides along our UCP stretch of dangers to land animals, and to those in creeks, where trash washes during rain storms.  We will be picking up trash along Homestead Road on Saturday, March 9th, from 9:30 to 12:30. Anyone age 12+ is welcome; please meet at UCP. Come fifteen minutes early if you have not yet seen the safety video. All materials are provided; please bring water and a snack for yourself.

This year's CROP Walk for Hunger will take place on Sunday, March 24th in Carrboro. If you're interested in walking or donating to the cause, you may do so online at  https://www.crophungerwalk.org/chapelhillnc (search for Unity Center of Peace), or you may give your donation to any member of Outreach; contact Nancy at nancy.donny@gmail.com if you want to walk, or sign up where T-shirts are being sold after the service. We are also selling CROP Walk T-shirts every Sunday until they're all gone; these are $10 (checks or cash). All proceeds from T-shirts support feeding the hungry in our local community.
