U.S. Plans to Terminate GSP Eligibility for India and Turkey
The United States Trade Representative ("USTR") announced yesterday that the United States will terminate India and Turkey’s designation as beneficiary developing countries under the Generalized System of Preferences ("GSP").
The revocation will not take effect for at least 60 days. The USTR must first officially provide Congress and the Governments of India and Turkey with 60-days notice of the change. After the 60 day period expires, the President will then enact the change by Presidential Proclamation.
