Taking Bible Courses to Mexico

Michael recently traveled about nine hours to San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico with two guys from the ASELSI Bible studies program to help initiate a new extension program there. We teamed up with a ministry that helps locals establish water purification systems in rural areas. They wanted to add Bible classes to their training, and ASELSI's Bible courses were the perfect fit. The trip was a success with over 30 students signed up for the two-year Bible training program. On the trip, Michael also discovered that cactus tastes surprisingly good!
Please pray for those who will be studying and the teachers who will be traveling to teach these eager students each month.

She's Happy to be Home Again

We previously shared about Esmeralda (pictured above with shawl), a girl who had been part of our Little Disciples Bible Study. She was severely burned from her waist to her ear in a kitchen accident when her shirt caught fire as she was preparing food for her family. Well, after two months and 4 days in the hospital, a skin graft and lots of healing, Esmeralda was allowed to go home. She is still healing and needs prayer especially to get full movement back in her neck. We visited her family with a packet of food and chocolates to celebrate that she's out of the hospital. We were glad to see her smiling again and back with her family. Please pray as Esmerelda continues her recovery and dreads the possibility of additional surgery.

Installing a Stove, Delivering Clean Air

In Guatemala lower respiratory infections are the leading cause of premature death. With Hudson and Jubilee along to help, we worked to change that prognosis for one family when we installed a wood stove with a good chimney for a single mom in our neighborhood. The smoke from her old stove was causing her breathing troubles. We asked her what she thought about the new stove and she simply looked at it and said, "It is beautiful!" Then she started making tortillas as she breathed in the smoke-free air!

We're looking for short-term housing in Michigan.

We're looking for a place where our family can stay during our time in Michigan. If you have a connection or know of a place in West Michigan where a family of seven could rent for about three weeks (from about May 15 - June 4) please email us here.
