We are writing to you because yousupport WoMena, and your contribution has made it possible for us to continue our work of improving the conditions for girls and women when they are on their period. Menstruation is not just a monthly event. To put it in the words of 25-year old WoMena beneficiary Viola Jackline:
“I no longer have to look for money, I am comfortable, and I have confidence in school.”
Viola participated in a pilot, we did together with CARE International in Imvepi Refugee Settlement, and her words describes precisely some of the things that tie into menstruation and why WoMena’s work is so important.
Thanks to our members, lives of girls and women have been improved greatly. Member support furthermore contributes to projects being scaled-up, which is how WoMena ensures sustainability of our interventions.
In 2019 Exciting Things are Ahead of WoMena
• We are starting a new project in South Sudan in collaboration with Save the Children, applying the lessons we have learned from working with South Sudanese refugees in Ugandan settlements.
• Our project in Buikwe will be scaled up from 4 to 32 schools with the goal of creating a positive environment among the local communities towards menstrual health and for the district to have the capacity to scale up the intervention themselves going forward.
• The next step in our Kenyan project will provide menstrual health education to 100 youths who are part of a Sexual Reproduction Health and Youth project in Homa Bay in partnership with Family Health Options Kenya (FHOK). This is part of WoMena's menstrual health pilot supported by Danish Family Planning Association (in Danish: Sex og Samfund) with the aim of providing sustainable menstrual health solutions across FHOK's network, and potentially wider.
Your membership and support would make a big difference for us in accomplishing these milestones.
That is why we ask you to become a member for 2019.
