The CO2 Systems Specialists

🇨🇦 Erkut Akyildiz 🇨🇦

Last week we welcomed Erkut to our CO2 Artist team. Erkut has been maintaining aquariums for 40 years but has only become focussed on aquascaping during the last 12 months.

Though his social media channels called Tropictank Erkut aim is to share his passion for aquascaping with as many people as he can. His excellent photography and videography skills go hand in hand with his exceptional aquascaping techniques to offer a stunning visual treat for anyone considering setting up an aquascaped aquarium.

Erkut promotes the importance of providing the correct environment for both livestock and plants together in one aquarium. He demonstrates just what can and will be achieved when a little attention is given to these important factors.

Ceratopteris thalictroides

Difficulty: Generally regarded as an easy plant to care for. However, herbivorous fish enjoy eating the leaves so attention is required to ensure your plant does not end up a tasty treat for your tank inhabitants.

Tank Position: Can be used in the middle or rear of the aquarium. If planting in the middle, regular trimming is required to maintain a nicely shaped bush. When placing in the rear, you can allow this plant to reach the surface. It is common for the leaves to breach the surface and continue to grow.

Lighting: A moderate level of light is needed to get good growth.

Temperature: A temperature range of 23-28℃ is best.

CO2 Requirements: While this plant grows quickly, it is still advised to provide a low level of CO2 to promote healthy strong leaves.

Feeding: The thalictroides is very effective at drawing nutrients from the water column so a quality liquid fertiliser is advised.

Note: This plant is a great natural method of combating algae in the aquarium. The ability to consume nutrients faster than algae means any unwanted algae should not be able to grow. Ideal for new aquariums.

Green means GO

One of the most common reasons people are put off using CO2 in their aquariums is the possibility of injecting too much CO2 and harming the fish or shrimps living in the aquarium.

While this is a valid concern, Our drop checker kits are an excellent tool to prevent such an incident form happening.

With simple set up instructions our drop checker can be in your aquarium and reporting for duty.

When our drop checker displays a yellow liquid, this tells you there is a higher level of CO2 present than is needed for the growth of your plants.

A blue liquid indicates there is not enough CO2 available to promote healthy growth.

You are looking for green fluid to appear. This tells you everything is correct, safe and exactly what your plants need to grow to their best ability.

Have you signed up yet?

We have been working on our plans to launch our very own aquascaping community and we are almost ready to launch our new website so we decided to share some more information to let you all know why we are so excited.

The new CO2 Artists community will offer members a place to connect with many other like minded aquascapers. Its a place to show past and present projects, share advice and ideas with aquascapers from across the world. We want our CO2 Artists community to feel special which is why we have included features such as a gallery of different styled aquascaspes, shop directory and even an events calendar so members can find and attend local workshops to further improve their skills.

Our members will have several benefits including special discounts, early access to our new products and much more.

Why not visit our social media pages and check out some of the existing co2 artist galleries already being shared.

We are currently looking for beta testers so if you have not already registered to become a beta tester, you can do so by clicking on the learn more button at the top of the co2 artist facebook page.
