Recital Tips

Practice your piece daily!  Play your song many times per day- slowly first and then in the required tempo. The more you practice before your recital, the easier it will be! When you get nervous, you can count on your fingers to know just what to do.

Stage a pretend recital at home in front of your family and neighbors. Practice in front of the imaginary audience at home daily- invite your parents, grandparents and staffed animals, too, to listen to your performance. Don’t forget to walk confidently to the “stage”, bow to the appreciative audience and play with no stops.
Did you just make a small mistake? Keep playing, don’t stop- your listeners might not even notice your error!
After you played your piece, bow to the audience to thank them for listening and walk back to your seat. Well done!

Email a copy of your or your child’s recital piece to the office! No music books are allowed in the recitals. Instead, copies of the musical pieces will be compiled in the recital binders. Each binder will contain sheet music for each recital in the order, in which the students will perform. You or your child will find the sheet music on a piano at your recital, or on a music stand if you’re playing on a violin, guitar, or percussion instrument, or singing.
Send us your copy no later than April 20th!  You may take a photo of your sheet music on your iPhone or scan a page, and email it to musicTeacherinLA@gmail.com

Remember that all the people in a concert are students or their family. We all want to perform well and will encourage you no matter what happens!

Dress up and trim your nails, too. Make it an occasion! Ball gowns and tuxedos are NOT needed, but something a little more fancy than every day is always lovely! J

One of the biggest things to remember is to have FUN! You’re not only showcasing your musical achievements and talents, but also making memories, so make them fun! Enjoy hearing other students playing music – and get inspired! You might hear a song that you want to learn. You might hear someone more advanced than you and think about when you’ll be playing like they did!

We are always proud to see our Music Teacher LA students at recitals.
You have worked hard throughout the year and we are looking forward to hearing your Spring 2019 performance!

Practice your piece daily!
