TOMORROW: Oral Health "Meet and Greet" Breakfast

PCOH is partnering with ACHIEVA, Put People First! PA, PA Health Access Network, and the Berks County Community Foundation to host a legislative meet and greet at the capitol in Harrisburg on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 to discuss oral health in the state. Please forward this "Save the Date" to your senators and representatives and encourage them to attend. 

 New Resource on Teledentistry

The ASTDD Dental Public Health Resources Committee posted a new White Paper on Teledentistry: How Technology Can Facilitate Access To Care.

World Oral Health Day 2019

 This Wednesday, March 20th is World Oral Health Day, the largest global awareness campaign on oral health organized by FDI World Dental Federation. This year's campaign is "Say Ahh: Act on Mouth Health." Spread the word on this campaign by using the hastags #SayAhh and #WOHD19 on social media.

New "Oral Health Advocacy Toolkit" Available
 
Temple University Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry collaborated with Children's Dental Health Project to develop an "Oral Health Advocacy Toolkit". This free toolkit provides resources and strategies to perform oral health advocacy effectively. The associations and societies that represent dentists and dental hygienists are also encouraged to use this toolkit to develop training programs that educate and train practicing dental professionals to become effective oral health advocates. Other grassroot and advocacy organizations will find this document useful.

New Resource on Dental Coverage and Medicare Costs

The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation released a new resource examining the oral health of Medicare beneficiaries. It addresses the costs of not obtaining dental care, use of dental services, current sources of dental coverage, and out of pocket spending. The resource includes rural/urban breakdowns.
