The Georgia General Assembly is on Day 33 of the Legislative Session. As of this week, we are closely following one bill that has big implications for our Asian American and immigrant communities. We will also be advocating for a "Driver's Licenses for All" bill, which will be released soon. Keep reading to learn about how to take action on these bills.

Be sure to join us for our last two weekly Immigrant Rights Thursdays with one coming up this week, and keep an eye out for future ways to get involved!  See more information below on each of these opportunities.
Bills We're Watching

Registry of Non-citizen Felons (HB 202)

This bill was introduced by Rep Jesse Petrea, who has previously introduced legislation aimed at singling out non-citizens. HB 202 would mandate the creation of a statewide database run by the Department of Corrections containing information about a prisoner's immigration status, offenses, and home country. This bill can endanger immigrant communities and put our families at further risk for discrimination and attack. Fortunately, this bill has not moved forward, but we are still monitoring its activity.

Driver's Licenses for All

Last week at the 8th Annual Asian-American Advocacy Day we introduced our efforts to push for legislation to provide "Driver's Licenses for All", which would increase access to all communities in obtaining a driver's license in Georgia. This bill will be introduced soon and we will keep you posted on how to get engaged!
