Spotlighting Literacy

Did you know that children who do not read on level by the end of 3rd grade have only a 1 in 8 chance of ever catching up and are 4 times more likely to drop out of school? In our partner school, Townsell Elementary, on average only 1 in 3 kids pass their reading literacy standardized assessments. Because of these realities, this quarter, we are focusing on literacy. Check out opportunities below to see how you can respond.
Serve With Us

Reading buddies meet with a child once a week to read a book while forming a relationship that can last a life-time. By investing half an hour a week, you can change the trajectory of a child.

Go With Us

This August, we have an amazing opportunity to partner with Home of Hope by working with the staff to host children's programming. Would you consider going with us to Lebanon at the beginning of August? If you’re interested, we will be hosting an informational on Sunday, April 7th at 12:30 in Haven E.

Partnering with El Paso

In February, the government reached out to local churches to respond to the need of asylees at the border. One of those churches, Caminos de Vida, said yes and has been housing asylees for the past month. As a church, we have been supporting this work with resources and teams. If you would like to give, we will be collecting new or gently used duffle bags as well as reusable water bottles. Over the coming months, we are also looking to send teams of IBCers to help relieve the Caminos de Vida staff.
