Join me for a quick trip to experience Haiti's Flag day!

Hi everyone - you're getting this because you said you'd be interested in a trip to Haiti.  I am taking a somewhat spur-of-the-moment trip, and I'm really excited about it!  The kids will be participating in a community-wide event - they will be marching in a parade.  They are already practicing!  It's one of those special moments when these kids that Maxo calls 'the poorest of the poor' get to be just like every other kid in the community and not singled out as 'the poor kid'.

Be aware - there is now a level 4 travel warning.  A level 4 states it quite simply:  Do Not Travel.  There has been unrest in Haiti and in early February there was violence, and the US pulled all non essential people out.  I have been in contact with 3 people in country - Maxo, Fritz from the Leogane Rotary Club, and Elizabeth from Christianville.  They all say it's fine/normal right at this moment.  Maxo used to run the radios for the United Nations Peace Keepers until they pulled out - he knows security, and will tell us if he feels it is not safe to come.  I cancelled my November trip last year because he said it was not safe.

SO - with that in mind, if you are game, check it out, and come along, with the understanding that we could very well cancel the day before - or even the day of if Maxo doesn't think it's safe.  Hopefully it will drop to it's normal level 3 by then... so check it out, then please let me know by clicking your response below (in the black box below the blue button).  Thanks!
