Touched by the Opioid Epidemic:
Stories of Love, Loss, and Hope


Please join us April 10 for the unveiling of 10 powerful personal stories created by people who have been touched by the opioid epidemic. These are individuals who have struggled with addiction issues as well the parents, siblings and relatives whose lives have been forever transformed by substance use disorder.

We hope you can join us to view the stories, meet the individuals behind them, and preview the Facilitator’s Guide that will be available to assist our statewide and local community partners, agencies and coalitions that want to use these stories at future events. The videos are part of a project developed by the Affected Families and Friends work group.

Legislature continues to review opioid-related bills as session reaches halfway point

The Colorado Legislature is halfway through the 2019 session, and lawmakers have ramped up to move bills addressing the opioid crisis and prescription drug abuse prevention through the legislative process. If you want to know what's being discussed, read our update to get details about the bills.

 
The Legislature moves fast — the best way to follow the progress of a bill or the hearing schedule is to use the General Assembly’s web page for tracking bills. Enter the bill number into the search field or use keywords such as “opioids” or “substance use” and use the filters to sort the results.

Updates on major state opioid response initiatives


Learn more about the two major grant programs managed by the Office of Behavioral Health, the State Targeted Response to the Opioid Crisis grant (STR) and the State Opioid Response grant (SOR).  

National Take Back Day is April 27

Naloxone saves lives. Help us spread the word.

Has naloxone saved your life? Have you saved a life using naloxone? Has naloxone saved someone you love or know from an opioid overdose?
 
The Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention would love to hear your story. The Consortium is collecting stories from overdose survivors and those who've used naloxone to save a life for an upcoming public awareness campaign to educate more Coloradans about naloxone.

Naloxone has reversed more than 800 potentially fatal opioid overdoses in Colorado since May 2017, and we need to let everyone know naloxone saves lives and is available at pharmacies without a prescription.

Help save more lives! Please share your story or share this message with anyone who can help.

Consortium introduces new strategy management system
