"St Patrick’s Day always gets celebrated on TDMS. During the great emigration of 1850,
the Marshalls came from the rolling green hills of Omagh, County Tyrone of Northern
Ireland to the farming hills of Dufferin County here in Ontario, where I still live today.
Here’s a few Irish folks telling you a list of things NOT to say to the Irish!
*CAUTION: There’s swearing. Because it’s about the Irish - DUH! "

Tommy is famous for his own arrangement of “Danny Boy”, “Isle of Inisfree” and “Hard Times” He also covers songs from “You Raise Me Up” to “Bridge over Troubled Waters”, “From a Distance” and “Something Inside So Strong” along with many more contemporary numbers. One reviewer described his music as falling into a genre of Symphonic Pop that still awaits a name. Tommy’s unique talent has brought him worldwide recognition with several sell-out tours in Ireland, the UK, the US, Australia, and Japan and he is now critically acclaimed to be one of the worlds’ finest singers of his generation. Drew Marshall’s Great Uncle traced his family roots all the way back to 1694 in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Probably the most famous of all the Marshalls was William Forbes Marshall (born 1888) W.F. Marshall was a Protestant minister, radio broadcaster and poet. Today, Drew will speak with Declan Forde, who some call “the new Bard of Tyrone.” Declan is a storyteller and aficionado of WF Marshall. “I’m a teacher by occupation, a poet by inclination and a pauper by circumstance.”

This Week's LIVE Recording Artist:
NUA

www.trionua.com

NUA is an award-winning innovative trad trio, bringing a fresh and unique sound to traditional music, creating their own distinctive original compositions, balanced with traditional and contemporary tunes drawn from Irish and Scottish traditions. Based in Toronto, Canada, NUA consists of three award-winning members: fiddle player James Law, guitarist Graeme McGillivray, and bodhrán player Jacob McCauley. The interaction between the three is what really makes the music shine, whether it be their soaring melodies or tasteful grooves. The original tune-writing of NUA gives their music its groundbreaking, adventurous quality, as demonstrated on their debut album BOLD and follow-up album FLOW. Bordering on progressive, while hinting at the traditions of the past, NUA’s compositions will take you on an exhilarating journey, creating an atmosphere and mood unique to the listener. The trio is also well known for their exciting incorporation of odd time signatures and polyrhythms, which give the music an electrifying lift and spontaneity. Each member adds his own distinctive sound and influence to the music. Although NUA is a trio with a sole melody player, the brilliant multi-tasking of each member is demonstrated countless times with perhaps a guitar-driven flat-picked melody, rhythmic fiddle playing, or melodic bodhrán playing to add to the mix. The ability of each member to take on multiple roles is one of the staples of NUA. This adds to a thrilling live experience and a “you just don’t know what’s coming next” approach! “Challenging melodies and rhythms ripped out at an impressive pace, without any loss of definition or detail. To achieve this level of impact with only three pairs of hands takes rare skill” (Irish Music Magazine)

Meanwhile Back On The FarmWith Elizabeth Marshall LIVE from
The Marshall Farm in Northern Ireland
Normally Drew talks to his dad about what life was like growing up on the farm. Today, we’ll speak with Elizabeth Marshall, who actually still lives on the Marshall Homestead in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Here is a brief description of The Enneagram found on www.enneagraminstitute.com:

From one point of view, the Enneagram can be seen as a set of nine distinct personality types, with each number on the Enneagram denoting one type. It is common to find a little of yourself in all nine of the types, although one of them should stand out as being closest to yourself. This is your basic personality type.

Everyone emerges from childhood with one of the nine types dominating their personality, with inborn temperament and other pre-natal factors being the main determinants of our type. This is one area where most all of the major Enneagram authors agree—we are born with a dominant type. Subsequently, this inborn orientation largely determines the ways in which we learn to adapt to our early childhood environment. It also seems to lead to certain unconscious orientations toward our parental figures, but why this is so, we still do not know. In any case, by the time children are four or five years old, their consciousness has developed sufficiently to have a separate sense of self. Although their identity is still very fluid, at this age children begin to establish themselves and find ways of fitting into the world on their own

Thus, the overall orientation of our personality reflects the totality of all childhood factors (including genetics) that influenced its development.

Several more points can be made about the basic type itself:
*People do not change from one basic personality type to another.

*The descriptions of the personality types are universal and apply equally to males and females since no type is inherently masculine or feminine.

*Not everything in the description of your basic type will apply to you all the time because you fluctuate constantly among the healthy, average, and unhealthy traits that make up your personality type.

*The Enneagram uses numbers to designate each of the types because numbers are value neutral— they imply the whole range of attitudes and behaviors of each type without specifying anything either positive or negative. Unlike the labels used in psychiatry, numbers provide an unbiased, shorthand way of indicating a lot about a person without being pejorative.

*The numerical ranking of the types is not significant. A larger number is no better than a smaller number; it is not better to be a Nine than a Two because nine is a bigger number.

*No type is inherently better or worse than any other. While all the personality types have unique assets and liabilities, some types are often considered to be more desirable than others in any given culture or group. Furthermore, for one reason or another, you may not be happy being a particular type. You may feel that your type is “handicapped” in some way. As you learn more about all the types, you will see that just as each has unique capacities, each has different limitations. If some types are more esteemed in Western society than others, it is because of the qualities that society rewards, not because of any superior value of those types. The ideal is to become your best self, not to imitate the assets of another type.
