POLITICS: North Korea has some words for Prez Trump. Reminder: for years, Kim Jong Un and Trump have been trading insults...and threats of nuclear war. Until a few months ago, when they met up to talk denuclearization. Things were going great...until the two leaders met up a second time last month. And ended the meeting a day early. Now, North Korea says they’re not “willing to engage in negotiations” with a “gangster-like” US. Olive branch, down the drain. In other news, yesterday, Parliament said ‘finally, let’s agree on something’ and voted to delay Brexit - just two weeks before the UK is set to ditch the European Union. Still unclear whether the EU would sign off on this, too.
WORLD: Today, hundreds of thousands of teens around the world are expected to go on strike to protest climate change. Quick refresher: months ago, Greta Thunberg - a 16 year old climate activist from Sweden - starting skipping school on Fridays to protest climate change. Since then, tens of thousands of students have joined in across the globe. Here’s how to get involved. Meanwhile, recently, Connecticut’s Supreme Court ruled that the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting can sue Remington - as in the gunmaking biz - over its marketing practices. Stay tuned. And in other news, a new report says that American teens are experiencing more mental health issues. Because, social media.
USA: The Senate is clapping back at Prez Trump. Reminder: one of Trump’s biggest campaign promises was to build a wall on the US-Mexico border. Problem, since Trump wants billions of dollars in funding to accomplish this - money Congress isn’t willing to hand over. So last month, the Prez declared a national emergency to use Defense Dept money to fund his wall. Something Congress wasn’t happy about. Leading lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to pass a resolution overturning Trump’s national emergency declaration. Now, it looks like Trump’s planning on vetoing it. Speaking of which, the House of Reps just voted unanimously to make special counsel Mueller’s report public. To which Sen Lindsay Graham said ‘overturn.’
